AI has helped our small but mighty organization transform itself over the past year.
It's taken the amazing work of our consultants and reduced administrative time, added richness and depth to our data, and shed new light on how we can better serve our clients.
Some of these changes introduced complexity and nuance we'd never had the capacity to explore before, often at whiplash-inducing speed. They also elevated the sophistication of the work we could deliver and the opportunities we began landing.
But what happens when the work starts coming faster, expectations grow, and the way we work needs to keep up?
We've spent a lot of time thinking about what AI can do for our clients. But lately, I've been thinking just as much about what AI can do for the way we deliver.
Because here's the thing. AI doesn't just make existing work faster. It changes what's possible. And every time we expand what's possible, we create new demands on the people, processes, and systems supporting it.
Humans, after all, don't survive on credits and high-speed internet. We need understanding, collaboration, and the confidence that new approaches have been vetted, validated, tried, and tested.
So how do we keep up without turning every new capability into a yearlong operational initiative?
I decided to find out.
Recently, I took something we've been talking about internally—the standards and behaviors that make us who we are—and used AI to see how quickly we could turn those ideas into something operational.
First, I defined the standards. Then I worked with AI to translate them into specific actions and checkpoints within our delivery processes. Finally, I built a prompt to incorporate those standards into the skills, templates, and tools we already use.
What might once have taken months of meetings, documentation, and process development now had a framework ready for review, testing, and refinement.
And that's an important distinction. We didn't transform our operations in an afternoon. We created a way to move from an idea to a tangible, actionable plan in an afternoon.
There's still human work to do. And frankly, that's the part that matters most. Our teams need to challenge the thinking, validate the recommendations, and make sure what we've designed actually works.
But imagine applying that same approach to your own organization.
What standards or expectations have you talked about for years but never quite managed to build into your everyday processes?
What new capabilities have you introduced without having the time to reconsider how the work gets done?
And what if the same AI tools accelerating your business could help you tackle those questions, too?
The opportunity isn't just to do more, faster. It's to make sure the way we work can evolve at the same pace as what we're capable of delivering.
For us, that means continuing to build on the judgment, creativity, and care our consultants already bring to the table, while finding new ways to support increasingly sophisticated work.
Speed and robust data are game changers for marketers. But clients still rely on the perspective, accountability, and care of consultants.
AI is helping us expand what we can do. Now we're using it to expand how much we can support.
And I think we're only beginning to understand what's possible.
